One in three high school students say they’ve experienced persistent feelings of sadness of hopelessness.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that’s a 40% increase from 2009.
WTTW is premiering the two-part film “Hiding in Plain Sight,” which explores some of the mental health challenges today’s young people face.
Joining “Chicago Tonight” to talk about the film and the crisis in mental illness among young people is Tara Gill, a clinical psychologist at Lurie Children’s Hospital’s Center for Childhood Resilience, and Erik Ewers, co-director and editor of “Hiding in Plain Sight.”
Those involved in the film also joined WTTW for a ‘Voices’ community conversation.
