According to Chicago Police Department data, 16 people were shot in 16 separate shootings between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday night.

The lone homicide victim was a 27-year-old man who was found just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the 8400 block of South Aberdeen Street. According to police, the man was standing outside when he was shot at by an unknown offender. The man was struck in the hip and taken to the Little Company of Mary Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

On Saturday, a 14-year-old girl suffered a graze wound to her back after leaving a party in the 7800 block of South Kingston Avenue. She told police she and someone else at the party had gotten into an argument, and the other person threatened to shoot the victim if she did not. The girl did leave, but as she was walking away, she heard shots and felt pain, according to police. She was taken to Comer Children's and was in good condition.

A 53-year-old was also shot inside his room at the Godfrey Hotel in the River North neighborhood just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday night. Police said the man was staying at the hotel, when someone began knocking at his door. When he opened the door, an unknown man carrying a gun forced his way inside and demanded the victim’s possessions.

That man began firing at the victim, who returned fire at the man. The victim suffered a graze wound to the head, but refused medical treatment. The suspect fled the scene and has not yet been arrested.
