Timed reservations will be required for all programs, from open skate to rat hockey, to allow for social distancing. Slots are released on a rolling basis at noon on Mondays, two weeks in advance. (For example, on Dec. 6, reservations will be released for Dec. 20-26.)

Open skate is free for those who bring their own skates, otherwise a $7 skate rental fee applies.

Additional programming at the city’s outdoor rinks includes drop-in skate lessons and various levels of pickup hockey games. Sled-assisted skating equipment is available with 24 hours notice in advance of a reservation by calling 312-442-2194.

Outdoor rink locations:

— McKinley Park, 2210 W. Pershing Road

— Midway Plaisance Park, 1130 Midway Plaisance North

— Mt. Greenwood Park, 3721 W. 111th St. Opens Dec. 1

— Warren Park, 6601 N. Western Ave.

— Wentworth Park, 5625 S. Mobile Ave.

The skating ribbon at Maggie Daley Park opened Nov. 19 and operates under a separate ticketing system.
