After enjoying a remarkable string of 70-degree days that broke multiple records for high temperatures, the Chicago area is about to be socked with a harsh dose of weather reality.
According to the National Weather Service, a strong cold front is moving in from the west, bringing with it the threat of severe weather on the front end and much cooler (yet still seasonal) temperatures on the back end.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for fast-moving thunderstorms and powerful gusting winds, with tornadoes possible. Loose objects should be secured in advance of the storms, and outdoor tents may be compromised, the National Weather Service warned, which is of particular concern to area restaurants.
