Illinois’ Chief Information Officer on Cybersecurity
Illinois residents looking for the state’s help in finding a job may have had their personal information stolen.
That’s according to the governor’s office, which last week said 1.4 million Illinoisans are affected by the hack of a third-party vendor. The breach affected nine other states, putting names, birth dates, and social security numbers at risk.
Meanwhile, Gov. Bruce Rauner has announced a new cybersecurity plan to guard against attacks on state agencies. The proposal is estimated to cost more than a billion dollars, though the administration doesn’t yet know the final cost or where all the money will come from.
Joining us to talk about cybersecurity, and about overhauling outdated state computer systems is Illinois’ Chief Information Officer Hardik Bhatt.
