Republican Joe Walsh was elected to represent the 8th District in 2010. He no longer lives in the newly redrawn, predominantly Democratic district. Rep. Walsh was initially going to run in the 14th District. The newly drawn 8th District covers suburban Schaumburg, Addison, Elk Grove Village and Bloomingdale. It is widely considered to be among the most contentious elections this season. Rep. Walsh is now running unopposed in the Republican party. The Illinois State Board of Elections removed Richard Evans and Robert Gregory Canfield from the ballot because they were each more than 100 signatures short of the 600 signature minimum, the Daily Herald reports. |
