Since 1977, Hubbard Street Dance has been a force for original dance in Chicago. They're taking things a step further now with a festival that fosters talent from within their ranks. It's all about opportunity, and it gives their athletic young dancers the chance to express their artistry.
A series of nine pieces, "danc(e)volve: New Works Festival," is choreographed by dancers from Hubbard's main performance group and Hubbard 2. They also have a wide range of inspirations, including Scandinavian reindeer herders and travelling vaudeville of the 1920s and '30s. The show starts January 19 and runs through January 29.
Hubbard's artistic director Glenn Edgerton joins us on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm.
