One of the country’s oldest civil rights organizations is urging people across the U.S. to resist the Trump administration. The National Urban League’s new report accuses the federal government of harming Black and underserved communities with federal spending cuts and diversity rollbacks.
The National Urban League’s annual State of Black America report accuses the federal government of being “increasingly determined to sacrifice its founding principles” and “threatening to impose a uniform education system and a homogenous workforce that sidelines anyone who doesn’t fit a narrow, exclusionary mold,” according to a copy obtained by The Associated Press.
The new head of the Chicago Urban League joins "Chicago Tonight" to talk about the city's gun violence and how the 99-year-old organization aims to help foster a new generation of black leaders.
