No Fooling, Chicago’s Street Sweeping Schedule Starts April 1

In an annual rite of spring, Chicago’s street sweeping fleet will be back in action Wednesday, scrubbing away a winter’s worth of debris and all those leaves that dropped late.
This means temporary parking restrictions will also go into effect wherever the sweepers are scheduled. Fines are $50-$60.
The bright orange “no parking” signs are generally posted two days in advance of sweeping, but some streets that receive regular weekly or bi-monthly cleaning have permanent signage.
The Department of Streets and Sanitation has posted a ward-by-ward schedule for cleaning and sweepers can be tracked online in real time as well.
Street sweeping runs through the end of November, weather permitting.
