Week in Review: Trump and Harris Face Off in Presidential Debate; Chicago Announces Hiring Freeze

A fiery clash in Philadelphia as Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump face off in their first — and now perhaps only — presidential debate.

Harris showed from the off she was not going to be intimidated and hit Trump where it hurts — on crowd sizes.

Trump doubled down on an anti-immigrant claim promoted by right wing media that Haitian immigrants are eating people’s pets in Springfield, Ohio.

After watching the debate, one very high profile childless cat lady says she’s going to be voting for Harris.

Meanwhile in Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration enacts a hiring freeze and limits overtime as the city faces a looming budget deficit.

The city also announces plans to close three migrant shelters as fears of a fresh influx of migrants from the southern border fade.

And Black firefighters from New York join colleagues in Chicago to commemorate the firefighters and other first responders who lost their lives on 9/11.
