— Preferred species are fir trees or Norway spruce; pine trees are ineligible.

— Must be at least 45 feet tall. Last year’s winner topped 65 feet.

— Must be located less than 50 miles from Chicago’s Loop; preference given to trees within 15 miles.

If those boxes are ticked, send at least two photos of the tree — one close-up and one from a distance — to [email protected]. Include the owner’s name, address, phone number and email address, along with a brief description of what makes the tree so special.

The last two winners have been a Colorado blue spruce from Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood and a Norway spruce from suburban Glenview.

The selected tree will be illuminated from Nov. 20 through Jan. 10.
