The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 Half Marathon Is Sunday. Here Are the Expected Street Closures, Race Schedule

The fourth annual Bank of America Chicago 13.1 half marathon on Sunday is expected to bring 10,000 runners through the West Side.
The course starts and ends at Garfield Park and also takes runners through Douglass Park and Humboldt Park. The race begins at 7 a.m. Sunday.
Race-related events, including a wellness walk and race day festival, will also be held throughout the weekend.
Below is what you should know about the upcoming race.
What Is the Race Day Schedule?
On Sunday, June 1, at Garfield Park:
- 5:30 a.m. – Gear check opens
- 6 a.m. – Start corrals open
- 6:50 a.m. – Wheelchair start
- 6:50 a.m. – Start corrals close
- 7 a.m. – Race start
- 8 a.m. – Race Day Festival begins
- 10:45 a.m. – Beer ticket sales end
- 11 a.m. – Beer service ends
- 11 a.m. – Gear check closes
- 11:30 a.m. – Race Day Festival ends
What Is the Race Course?
The course starts and ends at Garfield Park. The course loop takes runners through Garfield Park, Douglass Park and Humboldt Park. The course includes portions of Independence Blvd., Douglas Blvd., Franklin Blvd. and Sacramento Blvd.
What Are the Expected Street Closures?
The following streets are expected to close from 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, to 5 p.m. Monday:
- Music Ct. Circle: Hamlin Blvd. to Woodward Dr.
- Woodward Dr.: Madison St. to Jackson Blvd.
The following streets are expected to close from 6 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday:
- Madison St.: Hamlin Blvd. to Central Park Ave.
- Jackson Blvd.: Hamlin Blvd. to Central Park Ave.
The following streets are expected to close from 7 p.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday:
- McCrea Dr.: Schraeder Dr. to end
The following streets are expected to close from 2 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday:
- Madison St.: Central Park Ave. to St. Louis Ave.
- Central Park Ave.: Washington Blvd. to 5th Ave.
The following streets are expected to close from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Sunday:
- Independence Blvd.: Jackson Blvd. to Douglas Blvd.
- Douglas Blvd.: Independence Blvd. to Sacramento Dr.
- Sacramento Dr.: Ogden Blvd. to Roosevelt Rd.
- Ogden Ave.: Sacramento Blvd. to California Ave

- Washington Blvd.: Schraeder Dr. to Hamlin Blvd.
The following streets are expected to close from 6 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Sunday:
- Central Park Ave.: Lake St. to Franklin Blvd.
- Conservatory Dr.: Lake St. to Franklin Blvd.
- Franklin Blvd.: Central Park Ave. to Sacramento Blvd.
- Sacramento Blvd.: Franklin Blvd. to Augusta Blvd.
- Humboldt Dr.: Augusta Blvd. to North Ave.
- Division St.: California Ave. to Luis Munoz Dr.
- Luis Munoz Marin Dr.: Humboldt Dr. to Humboldt Dr.

If you live on one of the streets along the half marathon route, move your vehicle to another location off the course by Saturday, according to the race website. Towing of vehicles on closed streets will begin at 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the website.

What Race-Related Events Are Happening This Weekend?
- A race day festival in Garfield Park will kick off at 8 a.m. Sunday. The outdoor celebration will feature entertainment and health and wellness activities.
- On Saturday, organizers will host a free 1.31-mile wellness walk and various youth races for community members at Garfield Park. More information about Saturday’s events and how to register can be found on the race’s website.
- For half marathon participants, packet pick-up will be held at the Roosevelt Collection in the South Loop on Friday and Saturday.
