Chicago Cubs Extend Contracts for Radio Broadcasters Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer
Radio broadcasters Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer have signed onto multiyear contract extensions with the Chicago Cubs, the team and 670 The Score announced Wednesday.
“Pat and Ron have been with our fans for many of the most memorable moments in Cubs history,” Cubs Chief Commercial Officer Colin Faulkner said in a statement. “Their voices are synonymous with Cubs baseball and the voices of our summer. We are thrilled they will continue to bring their passion and expertise to our fans for years to come.”
Hughes, a play-by-play broadcaster, will celebrate his 30th season as the radio voice of the Cubs next year. Coomer, an analyst, will be alongside Hughes in the booth for his 12th season.
Hughes was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2023, receiving the Ford C. Frick Award, presented annually to a broadcaster for major contributions to baseball. Hughes has also been named Illinois Sportscaster of the Year nine times, most recently in 2018.
Coomer played nine seasons in Major League Baseball from 1995 to 2003. Coomer played for the Cubs in 2001 and was an MLB All-Star in 1999 as a member of the Minnesota Twins. Coomer has also played for the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fans can hear Hughes and Coomer call regular season games, postseason games and select spring training games on the Cubs’ flagship radio station 670 The Score.
We're thrilled to announce Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer have each signed multi-year contract extensions to remain the voices of Cubs baseball on 670 The Score.
