Photos: Protesters Take to the Streets of Milwaukee for Day 1 of the RNC

Thousands of anti-Donald Trump protesters — including many from Chicago — gathered in downtown Milwaukee on Monday to protest the first day of the Republican National Convention.

After kicking things off at Red Arrow Park, protesters marched for hours, holding up signs that read “Let Gaza Live,” “Expand LGBTQ+ Rights” and “Defend and Expand Immigration Rights.” Demonstrators chanted “No justice, no peace” and “No Trump, No KKK, No Racist USA.”

The protest was organized by the group The Coalition to March on the RNC 2024.

The protest came just hours after it was announced a judge dismissed the federal classified documents case against Trump.

The march mostly took place outside of the convention’s security zone. At one point, protesters took a break outside the conventional hall at Fiserv Forum.

WTTW News social media producer Michael Izquierdo documented the march in photos.
