Mere days after a playing a blistering set to close out Blues Fest as part of his “Damn Right Farewell” tour, the 87-year-old Guy has been added to the NASCAR Street Race music lineup.

Guy is set to perform on the main stage July 6, as the warm-up act, so to speak, for the day’s Xfinity Series race.

“The Blues is like gumbo. I can tell you how good it is, but you won’t know until you taste it for yourself,” Guy said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to the chance to introduce more fans to that Chicago feel, Chicago flavor, and most importantly — that Chicago sound.”

The legendary guitarist and singer has influenced generations of musicians, from Jimi Hendrix to Gary Clark Jr. Guy’s accolades include the National Medal of Arts, the Kennedy Center Honors and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Guy joins a previously announced list of acts for NASCAR weekend, which includes the Black Keys and Keith Urban.

Streets closures have already begun in advance of NASCAR weekend, July 6-7, in order to accommodate set-up around Grant Park.
