If this week’s warm weather has you in the mood for a taste of the islands, Fiestas Patronales Puertorriqueñas is coming back to Humboldt Park. The celebration kicks off with a Community Day on Thursday, June 8, and continues through the weekend with a parade, carnival, musical and dance performances, arts, workshops, and of course, plenty of good food.
“We want to preserve the legacy and the traditions of the Puerto Rican community and our culture,” Michelle Gomez said. “And I remember coming out to this festival as a kid with my parents and my grandmother. So it’s very personal to me as well this event and I want to see it to keep going and keep rising and growing.”
Fiestas Patronales Puertorriqueñas will be at Humboldt Park from June 8-11. Tickets and information are available on the festival’s website.
