Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields returned to his college stomping grounds at Ohio Stadium over the weekend, not to toss around the pigskin, but to pick up his sheepskin.
Decked out in cap and gown, Fields walked in Sunday's spring graduation ceremony at Ohio State University. Two years after leaving the school early to turn pro, he earned his bachelor's degree in consumer and family financial services.
According to the university, Fields continued his coursework through the athletic department's degree completion program.
Chicago Bears new President and CEO Kevin Warren — who was Big Ten commissioner during Fields' playing days — was on hand to see Fields collect his diploma.
Bears fans reacted with pride — "That's my QB!" — and a bit of hopeful thinking on social media. Today a degree, tomorrow a Super Bowl win.
