According to Chicago police, the incident occurred in the 8700 block of South Lafayette Avenue around 3 p.m.

The guard was outside of the armored car when a light-colored vehicle approached and occupants inside it began shooting, striking the guard in his bulletproof vest.

The offenders fled the scene without taking any proceeds, police said, while the guard was able to get himself inside the armored car and drive to Roseland Community Hospital, where he is listed in good condition.
