Get ready to experience spring, a brief dalliance with summer and then a return to winter – all in the coming weekend.
The forecast calls for warming temperatures that could hit a balmy 70 degrees in some parts of the Chicago region Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Enjoy the taste of June while it lasts, because showers and gusty winds will move in Saturday evening. After a blustery start, Sunday will be relatively calm, but cooler during the day. Sunday night brings a swing back toward winter, with the weather service forecasting temperatures falling toward the freezing mark and a chance for slushy snow.
So, to recap: It'll be a typical shorts, rain boots and parka March weekend in Chicago.
We'll see a warmup as we go into the weekend with area-wide 60+ degree temperatures expected Saturday afternoon. A more active weather pattern will follow with strong winds, showers, and possibly storms Saturday night, then rain and snow Sunday night into Monday. #ilwx #inwx pic.twitter.com/cftkyQppfW
