A 12-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was shot in the head Tuesday after celebrating her birthday with family.
Chicago police said the girl is “fighting for her life” Wednesday morning after being shot as she rode in a car with family members in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
“Another child has become the victim of senseless gun violence and it must stop,” the Chicago Police Department said in a tweet Wednesday.
According to police, the girl was in a vehicle with other family members in the 2300 block of West 72nd Street when an unknown pereson began firing shots from the street around 7:48 p.m. Tuesday.
No child and no family should ever have to endure this pain. The prayers of the Chicago Police Department and this entire city are with this little girl and her loved ones. If you have any information, please send an anonymous tip to https://t.co/9stFTTuXM6. https://t.co/vJiJbQjriW
