As you’ve likely heard — and whether you think it’s a good idea or not — Lollapalooza is back. Dozens of artists take over Grant Park for four days starting Thursday, including Miley Cyrus and Illenium (Thursday); Tyler, the Creator and Marshmello (Friday); Journey and Post Malone (Saturday); Foo Fighters and DaBaby (Sunday).

Note: If you decide to go, you must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of attending the event.

2. Delight

Kung fu demonstrations, a lion dance procession, arts and crafts, and samplings from the neighborhood’s restaurant are on tap at the annual Chinatown Summer Fair

3. Mangia!

Pasta, pizza and vino are the stars of Festa Italiana, which showcases Italian culture, music, artisans and, of course, food. Check out performances by dancers and singers, or try your luck at a meatball-eating contest (5 p.m. Saturday).

4. Pedal

The Chicago Family Bike Fest sets your weekend in motion two-wheeled fun, including bike decorating, a bike obstacle course and the Puppet Bike.

5. Play

Mexican cuisine, carnival rides, art vendors and a soccer tournament are among the highlights of Fiesta del Sol. The eight-block festival also features performances on a pair of stages.

6. Gather

Eclectic beats fill Jefferson Memorial Park at Jeff Fest. Bands slated to play include Echoes of Pompeii (Pink Floyd), Kashmir (Led Zeppelin), The Moods (Motown) and Catfight. Don’t forget to stop by the kids’ zone, where you’ll find the community stage and activities for the youngsters.

7. Marvel

To mark their 25th anniversary, the Actors Gymnasium is putting on a show under the stars at its Summer Salon 2021. Expect circus acts, music, nibbles and libations. BYO mask for indoor entertainment, and BYO blanket for an al fresco circus.

8. Pause

Learn how to live a more meaningful, mindful life at Philosophy in the Park, where you’ll explore how to develop better concentration, attention and the ability to see life from a different point of view.

9. Amass

Looking to add to your baseball card collection? Need a new piece of art for your man cave or she shed? Stop by the National Sports Collectors Convention to browse all things sports memorabilia, from trading cards and vintage collectibles to autographed items.

10. Create

Tap into your artistic side at Center Sunday, where you can participate in a quilt-making workshop, printmaking session and banner painting workshop – all in one afternoon. Kids can get in on the fun by participating in a time capsule making program about their experiences with the pandemic.
