Bears Face Jaguars With Playoff Hopes Still Alive
The Chicago Bears have won two games in a row, after beating the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday 33-27.
After a painful six-game losing streak, former Bears offensive lineman James “Big Cat” Williams says it’s a welcome sight.
“It's what we’ve been asking for. The Bears have been running the ball. They’ve revamped that offensive line. They’ve made a few (personnel) moves ... and it has paid dividends,” he said. “You have a group out there right now that is communicating well with each other and they’re getting the job done.”
This Sunday, the Bears are set to face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have just one win to their name this season. But Williams says the Bears can’t lose their focus, even though they’re likely looking past the dismal Jaguars to a long-shot bid at the playoffs.
“Every week you hear teams and coaches talk about, ‘we’re in the moment, we’re here for this one game, we’re not looking into the future.’ But how hard is it for the Bears not to look into the future right now? They know if they win the next two games – and one of the next two games is the Packers – they have an opportunity to make the playoffs,” Williams said. “They still need some other things to work out for them, like an Arizona loss. But you can’t help but looking down the road a little bit, and I don’t think they can overlook a Jacksonville team.”
