With temperatures set to top 90 degrees in the coming days, and Thursday’s heat index forecast to soar above 100, Chicagoans are looking for relief.
Pools and beaches remain closed due to the coronavirus, but folks can chill out at a limited number of splash pads, which have been temporarily opened at the city’s parks, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., through Friday.
More than 100 water spray features have been turned on, but the rest are still closed. So check before heading out the door, or the only thing you might wind up cooling is your heels.
To see if your park’s splash pad is on the list of open sites, visit the Chicago Park District’s searchable online map.
