The Week in Review: Pritzker Suspends In-Person Learning for Rest of Year

Gov. J.B. Pritzker closes schools for in-person learning for the rest of the year to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. On Friday, Illinois reported an additional 1,842 cases and 62 deaths, bringing statewide totals to 27,575 cases and 1,134 deaths. While the governor said the state is bending the infection curve, we haven’t seen the infection peak yet. Meanwhile, Pritzker's not-so secret shipment of personal protective equipment from China may not be usable as other states report.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart angrily defends his office’s COVID-19 testing and isolation procedures, after Cook County Jail was labeled the “largest-known source of U.S. coronavirus infections.”
