Chicago Film Critics Reveal Their Top Oscars Picks

Movie lovers, get your popcorn ready.

Among the changes are a cap to the length of the ceremony at three hours. To help make that possible, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced last week that it will present four of the 24 categories during commercial breaks. Those categories include cinematography, film editing, live-action short and makeup and styling.

The change prompted criticism when it was first announced last summer.

Chicago Tribune film critic Michael Phillips and Allison Shoemaker, a senior writer at Consequence of Sound, join us to discuss those changes and their thoughts on this year’s nominees.
