Silver Circle Awards

In May 2008, two members of the Chicago Tonight family were inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle of the Chicago chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (the Emmy people). The Silver Circle honors outstanding individuals who have devoted a quarter of a century or more to the television industry and have made a significant contribution to Chicago broadcasting.

Chicago Tonight correspondent Rich Samuels and Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review host Joel Weisman joined this august group. They were honored at an evening banquet, where the following videos were played. Rich Samuels produced his tape about his surprising television mentor. WTTW produced Joel’s tape, which gives some biographical information about the veteran journalist.
