Candidate Statement

Hi, my name is Kimberly Jagielski and I am running for Cook County Commissioner of the 16th District.

I was born and raised in Cook County. I graduated from St. Xavier University with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. I have worked as a Cook County Adult Probation Officer for the last 25 years. In those 25 years I worked in the specialized Veterans Court, was a domestic violence officer and am currently a court liaison officer. I raised my son as a single mom in a community that embraced and encouraged hard work and respect. Those notions are quickly fading away.

I am running for Cook County Commisioner because it’s time for us to step up and take back our communities. Crime is running rampant throughout Cook County. Residents no longer feel safe in their own back yards let alone their own neighborhoods. And with the SafeT act or as it’s better known “no cash bonds” coming into effect in January - it’s only going to get worse. As Cook County Commissioner, I will fight for the safety of our residents and our families by supporting policies that prioritize public safety and support our police.

With inflation skyrocketing, coupled with increased taxation, residents are feeling the strain every time they go to the grocery store or gas pump. The hard working citizens of Cook County should not have to pay the price for overzealous spending by their representatives. It’s time for change. It’s time to remind politicians and every elected official that they work for the people.   As Cook County Commissioner I will work for you.  I will not sell out the people of the 16th District for some politician’s agenda. So, If you’ve had enough and want change please elect me Cook County Commissioner and together we can take back our communities.

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

I am running for Cook County Commissioner because I believe this county is worth fighting for.  It’s time to elect officials who truly work for the people and not a political agenda .  I will work for AND fight for the people of the 16th District.

What does this office do well, and what needs fixing?

The office has done a spectacular job at being run by a one party regime servicing politicians agendas as opposed to peoples needs . What needs to be fixed is the practice of increasing taxation on our hard working citizens to compensate for over zealous spending.

What is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?

Crime is the most pressing issue facing my constituents and all of cook county .  I will support any policy that prioritizes public safety and fight AGAINST any policy that defunds police .   I will also invest to expand mental health services and availability to those who need it.

What specific steps would you take to ensure your office is accessible and responsive to your constituents?

I will open up staffed satellite offices throughout my district, utilize social media to engage the community,  and have an approachable presence at all community functions and affairs.
