Week in Review: Donald Trump Returns to the White House; Bears Hire New Head Coach
President Donald Trump returns to the White House and immediately issues a blizzard of executive orders.
Those orders include a blanket pardon for protesters who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — including for those who violently assaulted police officers — and an end to birthright citizenship as guaranteed under the 14th Amendment.
A federal judge calls that order “blatantly unconstitutional” and has put it on hold.
And as fears of raids by ICE agents targeting migrants rise, Chicago Public Schools says ICE agents were denied entry to a Back of the Yards school on Friday. But ICE says it wasn’t them.
Meanwhile, former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan’s corruption trial is nearing the end.
Planned Parenthood is closing four Illinois clinics.
And the Bears hire a new head coach.
