Buckingham Fountain is going out with a splash.
The Chicago Park District is turning off the fountain Thursday night, but not before one last hurrah.
The fountain’s major displays begin at the top of every hour, culminating in a 150-foot-high spray. The final splash of the season is set for 10:35 p.m., accompanied by a light show and music.
Buckingham Fountain opened on May 26, 1927, as the centerpiece of Grant Park. It was inspired by Latona’s fountain at the Gardens of Versailles.
