Early Voting for Nov. 5 General Election Expands to Chicago’s 50 Wards, Suburban Cook County

Early voting for the upcoming Nov. 5 election expanded to the city’s 50 wards and suburban Cook County on Monday.

Early voting in Chicago for the upcoming election had previously only been available at a supersite at 191 N. Clark and the Chicago Board of Elections offices at 69 W. Washington, 6th floor.
Voters in Chicago can vote at any early voting site. On Election Day, city residents can vote in one of 51 voting locations — the 50 ward sites and the supersite — or their assigned precinct polling place.
Suburban voters have more than 50 early voting locations to choose from to cast their ballot. Early voting sites are open to any suburban Cook County voter, whereas on Election Day, suburban voters must cast their ballot at their home precinct.

Races on the ballot include U.S. president, U.S. representatives, state legislators, Cook County state’s attorney, Illinois Supreme Court judges and elected school board members. Voters will also see three statewide ballot measures.

Voters in Chicago and suburban Cook County can look up their voter information online, where voters can verify their voter registration, locate their polling place, view a sample ballot and check the status of a vote-by-mail ballot.
The deadline to register to vote online has passed, but same-day voter registration is available at all early voting sites, including at a voter’s precinct polling place and the 51 voting locations open in the city on Election Day. Voters registering will need two forms of ID, one with a current address.
The deadline to apply to vote by mail for the upcoming election is Oct. 31. Ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day on Nov. 5.
