Week in Review: CPS Board Set to Resign; Presidential Candidates Battle for Votes in Swing States


Rather than fire the Chicago Public Schools CEO or side with Mayor Brandon Johnson by taking out a high-interest loan to cover a funding shortfall, the Chicago Board of Education announces that all its members will resign.

The shock move comes amid escalating tensions between the mayor, the Chicago Teachers Union and CPS CEO Pedro Martinez, who has refused to step down.

Meanwhile, early voting is now underway in Chicago with the presidential contest looking neck-and-neck with just over 30 days to go before the Nov. 5 election.
