Mayor Brandon Johnson pitches a $16.6 billion spending plan for 2024, prioritizing investments in affordable housing, mental health services and environmental justice.

He’s setting aside $150 million of that for migrant care, which is less than half of the 2023 costs.

More than a million people in the northern Gaza strip have been ordered to evacuate by Israel, while Gazans have been panicking as Israeli airstrikes and blockades continue.
