Treasures of Contemporary Art Gifted to Art Institute
Marc Vitali | April 30, 2015, 11:00 am
Overnight, the Art Institute of Chicago has gone from owning one of Andy Warhol's and one of Jasper Johns' works to having a total of 10 Warhols and four significant works by Johns. They are among the gifts from philanthropists Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson, and represent the largest gift the institution has received in its 136-year existence. Chicago Tonight sits down with the museum director to discuss the works, including art from Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Gerhard Richter, and many more. Together the works have been valued as high as $500 million.
