From Nov. 13 to 15, the Elements Contemporary Ballet and Baroque Band present The Sun King, a contemporary ballet in one act. Beginning at 7:00 pm each night, audiences will be transported back to 17th century France and experience composer Jean-Baptiste Lully’s obsession with the dancing king, Louis XIV. The performances are free, with no reservations necessary. The box office opens 30 minutes before the performance, and seating is first come, first serve.

This Saturday, Wicker Park and Bucktown will play host to more than 100 artists as part of Chillfest 2014. From noon to 5:00 pm, 30 storefronts throughout the neighborhood will host acoustic concerts. Attendees can move from venue to venue during this free festival. Participating venues include Lottie’s Pub, Jerry’s, and Gomez Shell. Acts include Pipe and Coil, Black Seed, and Blue Line.

Support local artists, listen to good music, and eat great food from food trucks such as Tamale Spaceship. Participating artists include Metal & Mayhem, KaLaLu, Chitown Design, and Broad Street.
Lively Water Whiskey Festival

On Saturday, learn about whiskey from master distillers at the very first Lively Water Whiskey Festival. The event runs from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. General admission includes the two-hour tasting session, whiskey samples and cocktails, a whiskey mixology session and a signature Lively Water Whiskey Festival tasting glass. Distillers in attendance include Deanston, Journeyman, and New Holland Artisan Spirits. Cost: $85.

On Friday, ice skating season in Chicago officially begins. Hours vary throughout the week, but on Friday, the rink is open from noon until 10:00 pm. In the past 13 years, the rink has attracted more than 100,000 visitors. The rink closes on March 8, 2015, weather permitting. Admission is free, but skate rentals cost $12.
