Those in search of the perfect gift should take a trip to the Merchandise Mart this weekend for the 13th annual One of a Kind Show. The show provides an alternative to traditional retail by presenting handmade creations from more than 600 artists from across North America. Guests can listen to live music while browsing accessories, furniture, paintings, and more. The One of a Kind Show and Sale is open Friday, December 6 through Sunday, December 8. The Second City celebrates the holiday season with original songs, brand-new sketches, and some classic favorites in their latest Mainstage performance. Equivalent to a rated-R movie, The Second City’s Dysfunctional Holiday Show “captures all the magic, mystery, and mayhem of the season.” The holiday revue opens this Saturday and runs through December 30. Round up the family and head to Navy Pier this weekend for the 13th annual Winter WonderFest presented by Bank of America. The festival provides a giant holiday playground that offers indoor ice skating, visits with Santa, slides, rides, obstacle courses, and more. New attractions this year include a 28-foot tall zip line and a dual lane inflatable slide. This weekend, the festival is open on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Admission to Winter WonderFest is free, but activity wristbands, which cost $16- $20, are required to participate in rides and attractions. Get in the holiday spirit this weekend by checking out a festive aquatic show at the Shedd Aquarium. A Holiday Fantasea features leaping dolphins, singing beluga whales, dancing sea lions, and a special appearance by Santa. On Saturday and Sunday, shows takes place at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:30 pm, and 5:00 pm. For more information, click here

This holiday season, a mid-18th century Neapolitan crèche is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago. Staged in a Baroque cabinet, the crèche presents an intricate Nativity scene with more than 200 figures, including 50 animals and 41 food and drink items.
