Northwestern University athletics has another national champion. The Northwestern Women's Lacrosse team won its 7th NCAA championship in eight years on May 27. The second-seeded Wildcats overcame an early deficit to defeat Syracuse 8 to 6 at the finals in Stony Brook, New York. Northwestern Senior Shannon Smith was named the tournament's most valuable player.
