Artist Matt Lamb

Untitled, mixed media on canvas, 1994, Artist Matt LambChicago artist Matt Lamb’s success story is like no other. Long before he ever picked up a paintbrush, Lamb ran a profitable chain of funeral homes and lived the high life. But he gave up the business, kicked his alcohol habit and tried something he’d never done before — painting. That was more than 30 years ago. Now Matt Lamb has as many museums and studios as he once had funeral homes. Watch Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm for the story.

Matt Lamb also created a global art project called “Umbrellas for Peace.” Children and adults from around the world paint and decorate umbrellas, designing them to represent their personal values of world peace. A parade of people carrying their umbrellas through the area follows. The project challenges everyone to be the person to present the world with peace.
