Candidate Statement

Hi, I’m Brad Schneider.

Today, the United States is living through historic times: internationally, we are combating an unprovoked Russian invasion and a once-in-a-century pandemic. Domestically, we are dealing with the resulting inflation while the Supreme Court dismantles abortion access rights.

We need serious leadership for Illinois and for America that can steadfastly navigate these waters to a better future.

In my role as Representative, I have focused on the needs of Illinois’ 10th District. I have held hundreds of outreach meetings in the district and returned millions of dollars to constituents from the federal government. I’ve visited countless local businesses and hosted job fairs, health care fairs and other informational programs. I’m working hard to hear and listen to my neighbors and fellow leaders in our community, and they know they can count on me to fight for them.

I know my district and the people here know me.  They call me when they have concerns whether its about prescription drugs or when their medicines are coming late in the mail; whether they need help with social security, or Medicare, or when dealing with the V.A.

But I also know their stories, their priorities, aspirations and challenges. And I am working to help them through this pandemic.

When our small businesses were struggling to get through the pandemic, I helped pass the American Rescue Plan, including historic programs like the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and the Save Our Stages program.

I helped pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will invest in public transportation like Pace and Metra, cleaner drinking water, and rebuild our bridges and roads. Not only that, but I was able to secure funding for local economic development projects like the workforce development at the College of Lake County. I’ve brough first responders to the emergency operations center, and we’re doing stormwater management projects across the district.

I will continue to stand up to Putin and Russia from my seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee. And I’ll also continue to fight to restore the SALT deduction in full from my position on the Ways and Means Committee.

So again, I know the values and priorities of our district. I live the common sense values by working across the aisle to find bipartisan solutions to the problems we have – and that’s why I’m asking for your vote.

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

Today, the United States is living through historic times: internationally, we are combating an unprovoked Russian invasion and a once-in-a-century pandemic. Domestically, we are dealing with the resulting inflation while the Supreme Court dismantles abortion access rights.

We need serious leadership for Illinois and for America that can steadfastly navigate these waters to a better future.

What does this office do well, and what needs fixing?

I know my district and the people here know me.  They call me when they have concerns. They call when they can’t afford their prescription drugs or when their medicines are coming late in the mail. They call when they need help with social security, or Medicare, or when dealing with the V.A., or simply when they need an expedited passport.

What is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?

When our small businesses were struggling to get through the pandemic, I helped pass the American Rescue Plan, with historic programs like the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and the Save Our Stages program, saving businesses and jobs, cutting unemployment at record speeds.

I helped pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will invest in public transportation like Pace and Metra, clean drinking water, and road and bridge repair. Not only that, but I was able to secure funding for local economic development projects, like workforce development at the College of Lake County, first responders at the emergency operations center, and stormwater management projects across the district.

I will continue to stand up to Putin and Russia from my seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee. And I continue to fight to restore the SALT deduction in full from the Ways and Means Committee.

What specific steps would you take to ensure your office is accessible and responsive to your constituents?

In my role as Representative, I have focused on the needs of Illinois’ 10th District. I have held hundreds of outreach meetings in the district and returned millions of dollars to constituents from the federal government. I’ve visited countless local businesses and hosted many job fairs, health care fairs and other informational programs.  I’m working hard to hear and listen to my neighbors and fellow leaders in our communities, and they know they can count on me to fight for them.
