Candidate Statement

Steven DeJoie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, attended Kenwood Academy and he earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1983. His career experience includes working as a banking professional and entrepreneur with experience in business consulting, community advocacy, security and financial services.

Former owner of DeJoie's Bistro 1 & 2 from 1990-2001 and currently working as a engagement consultant for Seaway Self-Help FCU and Sawa Financial Services providing home ownership education and real estate investment in the underserved communities. 

Current project in development Black Fire Fighter Memorial Project planned for July 14, 2022. I am an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Amer I Can Chicago Youth Mentoring and LeaveNoVeteranBehind.org.

Proactive engagement through a robust outreach to community/faith based and business organizations. Responsive service and proactive engagement with the residents of the District.
