Candidate Statement

Hi, I’m Gary Rabine.

Over the last 40 years, after starting with nothing, I’ve built a nationwide group of companies based in Illinois with over $130 million in revenues.

I have spent my entire business career building and rebuilding successful, world class, small businesses. I know what it takes to turn things around. And I am the only candidate running for Governor who does.

Illinois is at a tipping point. We are in a crime epidemic. Murders in Chicago last year were 5 times more than New York. Statewide, our sanctuary status and Pritzker’s friendliest-to-Illegal-felons laws have allowed human and drug trafficking to flourish.

Our economy is in shambles because of decades of bad public policy. Democrats have burdened our state with crippling taxes and regulations.

History will show JB Pritzker as one of the worst governors during Covid in America. When measuring physical and mental health, economy and public safety, few did worse. His 2 years of executive orders forced parents to be bystanders in decisions about their kid’s health and education. His lack of compassion for livelihoods ruined lives as he picked worthy or non-worthy jobs and small businesses.

As criminals looted, murdered and carjacked, his only answer was HB 3653, the safety for criminals act. I will put 5,000 more cops on the street. I will start prosecuting criminals and holding them accountable. I will respect and support our police and first responders.

I will implement the parent’s Bill of Rights to put parents back in charge of their kid’s health and welfare.

I will lower property taxes, reduce regulations and cut spending.

These initiatives will be lead by the best minds in turnaround government and will bring back property values and small business values that Illinois politicians have destroyed.

I will be a different kind of Governor. I will be a servant statesman for the people of Illinois and I can’t be bought! As your governor, I will reform and rebuild Illinois.

Thank you.

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

I felt like my family and my businesses were being bullied out of Illinois. Eight out of my thirteen businesses would be better off in another state. I grew my family and built these businesses, in Illinois, over the past forty years. I’ve always believed this state’s greatest asset is its people. The work ethic, the belief in family, the belief in God, the belief in freedom - are woven into the DNA of every citizens of this state and I don’t want any Illinoisan to have to leave.

I want all of our kids, grandkids and small businesses to stay. But that can’t happen if we continue to elect leaders who don’t understand how to make our economy grow. I believe that I am the only candidate in the race that has the experience and skills necessary to turn this state around.

What does this office do well, and what needs fixing?

I’m assuming you’re talking about the current governor’s performance. With all due respect, I don’t believe that JB Pritzker, as Governor, has done anything well. He instituted overly oppressive Covid mandates, his budgets have been gimmicks and he has ignored the crime epidemic in Illinois. His office is insular and not responsive to leaders even within his own party. And this next election is more a stepping stone on the way to his run for the United States presidency rather than about serving the citizens of Illinois.

In addition, I believe history will judge JB Pritzker as one of the worst governors in the country because of his management of health, crime and the economy during COVID. With regard to what needs fixing; we need a complete overhaul of governance in Illinois. Starting with an aggressive ethics reform policy that eliminates political patronage and addresses each of the specific allegations charged in the Madigan indictments. We cannot have a government that people rightfully don’t trust. We need to reform the business and regulatory environment to make Illinois an attractive state to small businesses and families. We need to return the job of parenting to parents. And we need to put an end to this crime epidemic.

What is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?

Public safety. The primary role of the governor is keeping the citizens safe. Until people feel safe, we cannot prosper as a state. JB has failed miserably. His criminal justice reform act is completely out of touch with the realities of crime in Illinois. Until we get back to holding criminals accountable and supporting our police the problem will just get worse. As Governor, my #1 priority will be public safety.

What specific steps would you take to ensure your office is accessible and responsive to your constituents?

I will be the most accessible and transparent governor in this state’s history. I will hold daily press briefings and remove the barriers to the governor’s office in Springfield. My staff will be instructed that constituent service is priority #1.
