Candidate Statement

Hi, my name is Paul Lange and I want to be your representative in Congress.  I got into this race because the people of this district deserve a choice.  A choice of a candidate who will always make sure I listen to you, learn your needs and responds to them.

I get that there is distrust of government.  I get that many don’t believe our  government is “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”  I am someone who understands this.  Someone who did not come from government, but from the private sector.  I am a someone who wants to represent ALL of you.

In any discussion of choice, I want to leave no doubt where I stand.  I am for choice.  Every woman has a choice of what happens to their body.  I saw a woman carry a sign at a rally that simply said, “My body is not public property.”  That woman speaks for many, and I will speak for her and all women that want and deserve the basic right to make their own choices.

There are many issues I will attend to when I get into office. I will ask for the community project funding that  the incumbent refuses to ask for. I want to assure funding that supports infrastructure for our river system and for our roads and bridges. I will push for continued funding to maintain the beautiful and unique veteran’s home in Quincy and all other benefits that our vets have earned.  I will fight to assure that social security will remain viable for all those that have paid into it.  And pretty well all of us have paid into it.

I hope you will make the choice to support me, Paul Lange for Congress.  I will represent all of you in the 15th district.  And maybe remind you that government can work, when responsible people are the representatives.

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

I am running because the people of the 15th deserve a choice. There are needs for infrastructure improvements and so much more that require attention of the person representing our district. The incumbent has not asked for any funding to improve anything in the district.  The incumbent is detached from the needs of our district.  I will make sure our needs are addressed. Social Security and Medicare must be strengthened and not allowed to sunset or diminish.

What does this office do well, and what needs fixing?

The incumbent has not asked for any funding for our district.  Unlike many of her party, she refuses to ask for the funding we need to rebuild infrastructure, to maintain benefits to our veterans.  I will make sure our district gets what it needs and deserves to prosper and grow.

What is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?

There are many issues to address: Education funding so teachers make what they deserve and have resources they need to be effective. Infrastructure to assure our roads and bridges are safe.  There is so much more that needs addressing.  A broad theme is that our constituents feel detached from government, that they are not represented or heard.  I will work to get the funding we deserve and assure that all voices are heard.

What specific steps would you take to ensure your office is accessible and responsive to your constituents?

My campaign is working to make sure I get to every county in this huge district.  I want to hear the voices of those I represent.  Having local offices spread evenly throughout the district, visiting every county once or twice a year, and having active social media. I will learn what the people of the 15th want and need.  I will make sure that our constituents are constantly aware of the bills I vote on, what my vote is and the reason for the vote.  The reason will never be to support the party.  The reason will always be to do what is best for my constituents.
