Candidate Statement

We live in the greatest country in the world on our worst day, and as the daughter of a woman who fled corruption, poverty and war in her home country in Latin America to find freedom and opportunity here in the United States, preserving what has made our country great is personal to me.

I am the product of the American Dream, and I see this American Dream that made my life possible under attack. Out-of-touch political elites have failed us. They have left our communities facing soaring inflation, failing schools, chaos at our borders, crime and lawlessness in our suburbs, all while demonizing our values and our beliefs.

The 11th District of Illinois resembles the heartbeat of America in its culture, its values and its commitment to the American Dream. I am running to represent all voices in the 11th District, not just the extreme of one side, as my opponent represents. He votes 100% with his party line and has voted and supported policies that have destroyed our businesses, our communities, our jobs and our culture as a whole.

It’s time we have new faces and new perspectives in Congress.

I will bring a modern perspective to build the future with my private sector experience, and restore free market, limited government principles that have made America the greatest country on Earth.

We may not agree all the time. But know that by electing me as your representative, you will be sending a fighter to Washington. One who will fight for what matters to you, one who is not afraid to disrupt the status quo. It’s time we send lions to Congress to solve the challenges today and get America back on track so that your children and your grandchildren have a shot at the American Dream too.

There’s a lot at stake this November, and it will take outsiders — hard working Americans like you and me — to turn this country around. We are ordinary, but resilient people and only when we come together can we make extraordinary things happen.

I’m Catalina Lauf, and I hope to have your support this November 8th for U.S. Congress.

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

I am the product of the American Dream, and I see this American Dream that made my life possible under attack by regressive economic policies and cultural wokeism.  My opponent no longer represents the values of the people of this district with his extremist voting record having voted 100% with Nancy Pelosi.

As the demographics of our districts change, it's imperative that a new generation of independent leadership step forward that more closely resembles the values of the district as a whole. I am running to represent ALL voices in Illinois 11, not the extreme of one side as my opponent represents.

What does this office do well, and what needs fixing?

Out-of-touch political elites have failed us. They have left our communities facing soaring inflation, failing schools, chaos at our borders, crime and lawlessness in our suburbs, while demonizing our values and beliefs. It’s time to kick our career politicians and bring fresh faces and new perspectives to Washington.

What is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?

Inflation. Rising inflation has caused every hardworking family in our district to make difficult decisions about their budgets.  While Bill Foster has rubber stamped every outrageous spending package put forth by the Biden Administration, the everyday people in our communities have been forced to choose between filling up a tank of gas or buying groceries.  I’ll support policies foster a pro-growth economic environment where businesses and workers of all levels can thrive with minimal government intrusion, which means lower taxes, de-regulation, and encouraging innovation in all industries. We must incentivize businesses to stay in Illinois and the U.S., to ensure America remains competitive globally.

What specific steps would you take to ensure your office is accessible and responsive to your constituents?

For starters, unlike my opponent, I will actually be present in the district, and I will actually have my offices open and accessible to my constituents. Transparency in leadership is imperative, and I will never forget that if elected, I am there to serve you- not political elites or special interests.
