Peppers Pop Up
Plenty of peppers have started popping up in our garden. Approximately two weeks ago the first pepper – a jalapeño pepper – popped up.
Now many more pepper buds can be seen.
Peppers are heat-loving crops, and it’s apparent the hot, humid weather has been fueling their growth.
When we planted the crops – two sweet red bell peppers and one jalapeño pepper– we chose to plant them as transplants rather than from seed per Jeanne Nolan’s recommendation.
Planting transplants allows gardeners to get a head start on the season, Nolan said. That coupled with the warm weather spurred the growth.
