Tommy Hanson

Candidate for US House - 5th District

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

To restore the vitality and prosperity we once had in the Chicagoland area.

How has your district been impacted by the migrant crisis and what do you think should be done?

Stop Sanctuary State and City status. Although I am not an elected official, I am continually getting calls from residents, building owners and business owners saying ‘stop the madness’.  If immigrants want to come to America they need to do so legally.  No hand outs and no free housing.

What do you think immigration reform in Congress should look like?

Close the borders and secure them. Reinforce our solid pathway to legal immigration like millions of others went through and protect the US Citizen.  No granting police status to non US citizens.  No hand outs to illegal immigrants.  We have enough American’s struggling, particularly in the greater Chicago area.

How important is bipartisanship to you and what issues have you worked on across the aisle or with people who don't uniformly share your beliefs?

There is no such thing as bipartisanship anymore.  As a real estate licensee, we work with all walks of life, all nationalities, all religious beliefs  and all identities, to provide a positive outcome.  That’s the way our government should be, but it isn’t.

What action, if any, do you want to see next on abortion access after the Dobbs decision?

Illinois has a solid pro-abortion stand since this went back to states rights. This is a state decision.
