Candidate Statement
Hello my name is Geno Young and I’m running for Congress in Illinois’ 1st Congressional District to restore it after 86 years of single-party rule, lies, neglect and total abandonment from incumbent Bobby Rush. For nearly nine decades the Democratic Party has pillaged this community into the ground.
The most disheartening thing is going around the 1st District and simply asking people whom their congressman is, and they can’t even tell me. That’s a testament to the abandonment of career politicians like Bobby Rush who blow into town every two years asking for money and votes, never to be seen or heard from again until the next election cycle.
This pattern is unsustainable, and has gotten us nowhere. A vote for me will be a death blow to the status quo. I’m a total political outsider, and as such, I am beholden to no one but my God in Heaven, and you — my constituents. Imagine life with a reachable ally in a high place.
I won’t be a faceless name on a ballot. Imagine you want to start or grow your business, and actually having someone with boots on the ground to help you do that by accessing unused programs that are already available to help you survive and thrive. How about going to the grocery store without spending $80 for one night’s worth of groceries? Or imagine spending your week’s pay taking care of and enjoying time with your family, instead of spending it at the pump. Imagine you need help finding housing or would like to move your child from a failing school, and having an advocate in Washington who can team up with State Reps to see what programs or options are available for you. That’s the role of government.
To empower the people, not trick them into a parasitic cycle of dependency. You have a decision to make, more of the same broken promises, or stepping out on FAITH for something new. We’ve seen where bad government has left us, now it’s time to see where good government can lead us. And that’s where I stand: Pro-God, Pro-Life, Pro-Law Enforcement and Pro Liberty. The status quo aren’t untouchable, we’re going to send them a message. The majority is silent no longer. I will make them hear you! God bless you and God bless America!

Why are you running?
To restore our great 1st District after decades of neglect from Bobby Rush. And to uphold an America-First agenda that puts the wants and needs of my constituents ahead of EVERYTHING else.
What does this office do well, and what needs fixing?
This office will be able to directly impact the living conditions of the constituents of the 1st District. Whether it’s in regards to legislation that impacts the cost of living/gas prices or simply finding help in regards to housing or building a business, I will be there for my constituents. What needs to be fixed more than anything is making sure that we have a person whom the people of IL-1 can count on when they need help. Not a faceless name on a ballot, but a true advocate for your interests in a high place.
What is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?
The most pressing issue facing my constituents is the cost of living/gas prices. Contrary to what they campaigned on, the Biden Administration has enacted several policies that are having real impact on the people of the 1st District. Whether it’s going to the store and paying $80 for TWO bags of groceries, spending a week’s pay to fill up your car, or unemployment because entry-level jobs are being taken by illegal immigrations who are being bussed to communities of color — my constituents are suffering because of Joe Biden. As your next congressman I will put your interests first by voting to reinstate our energy independence so that gas prices will fall, causing the price of food and all other goods to plummet, as well as fighting for fiscal responsibility. I will not vote for ANY MORE wasteful spending foreign or domestic. Inflation has skyrocketed because of Biden’s reckless spending under the guise of “COVID Relief” which was subject to fraud. Many businesses who actually needed the money the most never received it. It’s time-out for big government giveaways, your government must serve to empower you, not make you dependent and poor.
What specific steps would you take to ensure your office is accessible and responsive to your constituents?
I plan on setting up offices throughout my district to make sure that I am directly accessible to all of constituents. I will partner locally with State Reps to make sure that my constituents are informed about the different programs available in regards to housing or building businesses. Unlike unreachable politicians like Bobby Rush, you will be able to contact me, and I will help you find the help that you need. There is no reason why tax paying citizens can’t go to their congressman and at least ask for help. Together, we will figure it out and see what help is available to get you on your feet.
