Candidate Statement

Greetings. My name is Joseph Schreiner and I am running as a Libertarian for Cook County Clerk. I have 40 years of experience in information technology, statistics, medical research and education in the private, public and academic sectors.

I have three master’s degrees: engineering, psychology and public administration.

If elected Cook County Clerk, I will administer the office efficiently and fairly, observing state and local law, but not unconstitutional mandates.

More importantly, I will do everything in my power legally to end the Democratic and Republican war on the people of Cook County.

For the past two years, using COVID as an excuse, these two parties have:

Destroyed small businesses, stolen two years of our children’s lives, vacated houses of worship, bankrupted hard-working citizens, turned the health system into medical tyranny and outlawed freedom of assembly and speech.

If all this were imposed by a foreign power, it would clearly be an act of war. They suffocated us and our children with their useless masks.

They demanded that we submit to unapproved, experimental genetic manipulation.

I have opposed and will oppose all lockdowns, all mandates and all similar measures that oppress us.

As Cook County Clerk, I will speak out for freedom against these politicians.

I ask for your support in the June primary and in the November general election.

Thank you.

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

I am running as a Libertarian for Cook County Clerk because I want the people of Cook County to live in freedom, prosperity and health. For over two years, the Democrats and Republicans have waged war on the people of Cook County with their lockdowns and mandates. The people have no advocate for freedom in Cook County government. If elected, I will be that advocate.

What does this office do well, and what needs fixing?

The incumbent County Clerk has weaponized state and local election law against alternative parties and independent candidates. She tried to keep valid candidates off the ballot by misinterpreting election law. The voters of Cook County deserve real choices. I will do all that I can, legally, to see that alternative parties and independent candidates have ballot access.

What do you think is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?

The most pressing issue is clearly the Democratic and Republican COVID war on the people of Cook County. These two parties have destroyed small businesses, stolen two years of our children’s lives, vacated houses of worship, bankrupted hard-working citizens, turned the health system into medical tyranny and outlawed freedom of assembly and speech. If all this were imposed by a foreign power, it would clearly be an act of war.

Though restrictions may be temporarily relaxed when this response is being read, we cannot be complacent. Democratic and Republican politicians will again invoke hysteria and lockdowns when they feel that it is in their interests. We must prevent them from doing this again. And we must hold them accountable for the damage that they have done.

What specific steps would you take to ensure your office is accessible and responsive to your constituents?

If elected Cook County Clerk, I will administer the office efficiently and fairly, observing state and local law, but not unconstitutional mandates. The office of County Clerk is primarily administrative. However, the County Clerk is an elected official and thus has a duty to speak out about issues that concern citizens. I will be an advocate for freedom, prosperity and health.
