Candidate Statement

Hello. My name is Raynetta Greenleaf, I’m the candidate for Alderman in the 17th ward.

We are living in a time where Community needs to be our major focus. It is time to rebuild and uplift our communities by providing service and resources to our children and elderly members. We need to build a strong economic infrastructure by encouraging local community businesses and providing a job database for our working families. We envision an office that will spearhead these initiatives and many more.

It will be my responsibility as the Alderman of the 17th ward to ensure our community and its constituents are provided the opportunity to build a lifestyle that will enrich their quality of life. We envision an office that will not only promote community safety but will build a significant relationship between law enforcement and our community members.

Unfortunately, our constituents are faced with a heightened level of gun violence. They are forced to consider survival issues surrounding the living environment in our community. Violence in our community is creating an epidemic of mental health and grieving issues amongst our community members. We want a chance at changing the odds, by bridging the gap between our local police department and our constituents. In order to bridge the gap we must initiate community town hall forums, In hope to create a safe communication environment that will allow our constituents to safely voice their concerns.

We’re also looking forward to introducing trades and union reform jobs in the community to engage in equal employment and entrepreneurship. By providing the community with a healthy economic infrastructure, it will enhance opportunities and help the community’s survival rate. We will work towards decreasing the amount of millennials in the streets and placing them into the workforce. We will create a healthy financial community structure that will provide the constituents the opportunity to purchase and rebuild the vacant properties, which will in turn eliminate the property abandonment issues that currently plague our community.

Candidate Q&A

What is your vision for this office?

We are living in a time where Community needs to be our major focus. It is time to rebuild and uplift our communities by providing service and resources to our children and elderly members. We need to build a strong economic infrastructure by encouraging local community businesses and providing a job database for our working families.  I envision an office that will spearhead these initiatives and many more.

It will be my responsibility as the Alderman of the 17th ward to ensure our community and its constituents are provided the opportunity to build a lifestyle that will enrich their quality of life. I envision an office that will not only promote community safety but will build a significant relationship between law enforcement and our community members.

What is the most pressing issue facing constituents, and how can you help address it?

Unfortunately, our constituents are faced with a heightened level of gun violence.  They are forced to consider survival issues surrounding the living environment in our community. Violence in our community is creating an epidemic of mental health and grieving issues amongst our community members.  I want a chance at changing the odds, by eliminating negative relationships between our local police department and our constituents. I want to bridge the gap our community has with working with the local law enforcement agencies. I believe we must unite to eliminate the gun violence plaguing our community. By initiating community town hall forums, I hope to be able to form a safe communication environment that will allow our constituents to safely voice their concerns. It’s time for our community’s voice to be heard.

I’m also looking forward to introducing trades and union reform jobs to help our working class and non-working families engage in equal employment and entrepreneurship. By providing the community with a healthy economic infrastructure, it will enhance opportunities and help the community’s survival rate. I will work towards decreasing the amount of millennials in the streets and placing them into the workforce.  I will create a healthy financial community structure that will provide the constituents the opportunity to purchase and rebuild the vacant properties, which will in turn eliminate the property abandonment issues that currently plague our community. We will be giving the people a reason to live and maintain a healthy family, in a healthy livable community.
