Voodoo Doughnut has announced a Dec. 16, 8 a.m., opening date for its Fulton Market shop at 945 W. Randolph St.

The Chicago outpost will be the first Midwest location for Voodoo, founded in 2000 as a quirky Portland, Ore., original. It’s since expanded to 22 bakeries, almost exclusively west of the Mississippi.

Once at the forefront of the “keep Portland weird” movement, Voodoo is known for its unusual flavor combos and exuberantly-topped doughnuts, including the signature Voodoo “doll.”

“We are thrilled to open our first store in Chicago just in time for all to enjoy some of that Voodoo magic during the holiday season," said Chris Schultz, Voodoo’s CEO.
