Traayvon Martin and Stand Your Ground

When a highly trained individual, such as a police officer draws their weapn and fires, there is always an investigation as to whether it was a justified shooting. Now that police officer may be eventually cleared as acting within the scope of their duties. I think the same standard or higher should exist for a community watch individual. I do not think that the No Stand Law in Florida, or the one being proposed here in Illinois would simply let you fire at will just by an excuse " I was afraid" or "I was attacked". The very meaning of self defense should mean that a person has used every possible avenue of escape and only when they have nowhere to go should they have the option of using deadly force.
