United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz announced Thursday he is stepping down from the top job at the Chicago-based carrier.
Munoz will hand the reins to President Scott Kirby in May, capping a turnaround effort at an airline that had become an industry laggard after a rocky merger with Continental Airlines as well as a national PR nightmare.
Munoz was named CEO in September 2015, just before suffering a severe heart attack and heart transplant.
During his tenure, the carrier withstood the firestorm that followed the 2017 dragging of a passenger off of a United plane. But in that time, the airline also saw a thawing of relations between management and its employee unions, and overall performance improved, warming the company’s relationship with Wall Street.

DePaul College Prep’s Irving Park campus has officially hit the market, roughly four months after the Catholic high school announced it would move from its location at Addison Street and California Avenue.
The 7.3-acre site near the North Branch of the Chicago River is zoned to allow for townhomes, senior housing and multifamily housing. It’s also is next to the highly anticipated Riverview Bridge, a $13 million project that will become the city’s longest pedestrian river bridge.
The broker representing the school tells Crain’s it has already fielded multiple offers for the site.

Dynamic Hospitality, which owns Prime & Provisions and Bar Siena, is debuting a new eatery at 905 W. Fulton Market, the same building that will soon be anchored by Mondelez International’s global headquarters.
